Hello ActionLove.com I am a 29 year old female. I started on birth control pills at the age of 16 and continued to take them until about 8 months ago when I decided to take a break since my boyfriend and I had broken up. The last few years that I was on the pill, I developed a recurring bacterial vaginosis infection as well as chronic fatigue. In the middle of the day I would become so tired and weak that the only thing that I could do was to lay down. I also had "brain fog", depression, and loss of libido. Oh, and I am also a smoker. After I went off of the pill my vaginal infections went away as did my fatigue. My libido began to come back and two months ago I began a new sexual relationship (after 6 months of celebacy with no birth control pills). So I decided to go back on the pill. I tried the same ones I had been on but after two days my legs went numb. I switched to a low-dose birth control pill hoping that would ease the side effects. It's been two months now since I started them and I have had bacterial vaginosis for the last few weeks (whitish discharge, fishy odor, pain during intercourse, swelling and inflammation of the vaginal walls and vulva, and occasional itching). I also have the severe fatigue returning. It feels as if someone is sitting on my chest and I feel so weak. My libido is also disappearing again, although the vaginitis and fatigue might play a part in that. I'm also having issues now with lubrication. Oh, and when I had my PaP test done they also tested my thyroid and said that it's at the very low side of "normal". I have most of the symptoms of hypothyroid except the weight gain. I am very thin and have a hard time gaining weight. I don't know what to do, I loved having my libido back. When I first began having intercourse again (before I started on birth control pills) everything was wonderful. There was plenty of lubrication, I had good sensation, no vaginal problems that I could tell. Is there anything that I can take supplement-wise that would counteract the side-effects of these oral contraceptives without reducing their effectiveness? I just want to feel normal, don't we all?
