Reader: 12/02/2007>My wife, 21 and I, 25 just had a baby (vaginal delivery) almost 3 months ago and want to wait several years before having another. We are trying to decide if we should remove "M!rena" An IUD birth control method. She usually doesn't have a problem with getting vaginally lubricated and aroused but after the insertion almost 1 month, she "isn't able to respond sexually". Our sexual activity went from 3-4 times a week to 1-2 times a month. We communicate openly about this and we are both frustrated, not sure whats going to happen... or what our options are. Her symptoms after the IUD insertion include:

Pain during intercourse -(afterbirth pain decreased it took 1.5 months and we resumed fairly normal sexual activity and decided on birth control and then pain increased after insertion not sure if its the IUD or just normal after birth pain)

vaginal spotting
joint pain (notably hips and knees)
headaches
decreased libido/no thought of sexual pleasure/ careless about most things and not just intercourse
depression
light headed dizziness

Possible lifestyle culprits as reason for these symptoms:
Lack of exercise
Insufficient rest due to newborn schedule

Best solution obviously would be to remove IUD and see if things normalize. WE don't want to rush into removing it because it was expensive and we are interested in carefree/spontaneous birth-control. Furthermore we not ready to fully blame the IUD as her lifestyle is under question. We are also open to keeping the IUD if a combination of improved lifestyle and supplements offered through your program can accomplish 2 things....
